Raptor WiFi System - Wireless Access Points (Hotspot)

About Raptor Cellular Wi-Fi PC Setup Remote Control Cellular Plans Accessories Example Photos   Applications

A Wireless Access Point (WAP) is a device that allows wireless communication devices to connect to a wireless network such as 802.11 WiFi networks. The WAP usually connects to a router or Cable/DSL modem, and can relay data between the wireless devices (Wireless laptop, WiFi Phones, or Raptor WiFi System) and the Internet. A "Hot Spot" is a common name for a WAP. Encryption standards such WPA and WPA2 schemes provide secure access to your WAP.

The Raptor Wi-Fi System is setup to communicate to any 802.11b/g wireless access point. Once connection is established photos and data are sent through the Internet via SMTP Email or FTP. No expensive modem and dedicated PC Base Station is needed like competitive long range wireless systems need.

Setting up a Wireless Access Point

If you have broadband Internet such as Cable Internet or DSL setup at your home or office adding a Wi-Fi Access Point is very simple. One of the most popular Wi-Fi Access Points on the market today is the Linksys WAP56G. The Access Points connects to your Cable or DSL modem by 10/100 Base-T Ethernet Cable. The Linksys WAP56G access point also has removable antennas allowing higher gain antennas for long range WiFi solutions. The Linksys WAP56G Access Point can be purchased here.
Mobile Access Points

Mobile Access Points are becoming more popular today. Many cellular providers such as Spring and Verizon offer mobile access points. Mobile access points include a WiFi radio and cellular radio, which typically allow connections of up to 5 WiFi devices access to a single cellular data plan.
