This is the step by step process
on mounting the external switch into your case. This switch is
included with your "Digital Trail Camera Kit" and
will allow you to power on/off your trail camera without
having to open the case. This is very useful when you attach
your camera to a tree in the woods and not having to worry
about knowing if you turned your camera system on or not. |
|

The first step to installing the external switch is to locate the
location on the
exterior of the case. I've found the best place for this is on the
bottom of the
case where no moisture can get into the case. The location show here
near the battery
holder works well because you can easily run the wires from the
battery holder
to the power connector on the PixController board.

After you locate the best position mark a spot near the center of
the case bottom with a marker as shown here.

Using an awl mark the center of your mark by pressing firmly into
the plastic.

Next setup a drill with a 3/4" bit. We suggest using Forstner
bits since they
seem to be the best for cutting larger holes in plastic.

Cut the hole in the case with your drill. You can use either a power
hand drill or a drill press
if you have access to one. Note, you will not cut through the rubber
bladder inside the case.

Using a sharp knife cut out the rubber bladder as shown.

This is what your hole should look like after you cut the rubber
bladder.

Next you will need to file a square notch at the bottom of your hole
to allow for
the plastic guide to fit in which is molded into the external
switch.

This is what your finished hole should look like. You are now ready
to insert
the external switch.

Now all you need to do is press the external switch into the hole.
This is a tight
fit and you may need to use a rubber mallet to pound the switch into
place.

You are finished. Now you can move onto Step
4 and wire your board to
the battery pack.
Go to Step 4.
